Ewwe

I don't know how to spell ewwe as in yucky, but unfortunately this year July also brought a little gore to our summer. Right before Joe's birthday party, Derrick was out mowing some last minute spots on the lawn (he was supposed to be filling waterballoons for me). Well, to make a long grosse story short, he backed up without looking, and triped over a water thing in our backyard and caught his foot in the mower. Anyway, 15 minutes before guests were arriving I was driving him to the ER. Luckily he kept all his appendages, minus one toe nail, broke two toes and had surgury later that evening after the kids were in bed. He unfortunately missed the party, but as he insisted, the party went on and of course everyone had a great time. (except I was kindof going on adrenaline with a smile!) So, lucky for you there are no pictures with this post because Derrick refuses to let me document his sorry messed up toes. They are doing well, though, and he is pretty much back to normal. He limps a little cause they are still healing but, he did mow the lawn successfully tonight for the first time since the accident. So, make sure your careful with those lawn mowers, wear your shoes, and NEVER go backwards. He was wearing his brand new Doc Martin shoes, thankfully.
